Will You Be 02:00
Will you be my only? Sea to sea, you’re my only On land and ennui, one and only baby Tearing down the road we’re a ravenous cyclone eating everything that we can see maybe When we crash at home we can sit outside under white sheets let our minds breathe, digest the feast, maybe
2.
A drive through the country to soothe the mind An emerald field is a sight for sore eyes Picture the pose of the figure underneath Shoulders and hips draped in green The manor on high painted white The glory of man and the model of life Every tree hides a cloud of trembling cicadas, the invisible crowd But one honeyed chirp of a cricket in the grass cuts through the blast These fields stoke desire I’m full to the throat but begging for more Drinking the air that rolls off the pasture Scent of sweetgrass and blood in the soil
3.
Pretty as a summer day Layered as a peony Cheeky-sweet like lemonade Envy isn’t becoming Dress to compete Keep your figure Attract/repeat Perfume linger Salzburg summer Alone with your thoughts fifteen years later What has your love, perma-teenager? Are the others watching you? The subtleties of how you move The corner of your mouth Sip the straw pout Imbue it all with effortlessness What do you love? What do you dream? Where go your thoughts when you are sleeping? Salzburg in the summertime A cigarette for every teen Paint your cheeks and drink your wine Rose goes with everything Silence your phone but still use it casual midday mass peruser

Equator Line 02:33
Kid down the street swears that he is a black belt I seen him practicing in the field beside Roosevelt Rumor has spread that he owns a real sword He’ll do a split kick if you hold the board I have no doubt that his skills come in handy but I get by fine with a jump rope and candy Never that taken with the motorcycle I dream my way through using minimal muscles Up in the canopy with a tiny pad of paper Summon the warm rain to rust out the staples and draw the ghost up from the asphalted bus stop in newspaper hats we march toward the black top With a finger on my forehead I look for a sun sign Lead me toward the belted equator line I want to lie down, half North and half South The turn of the globe realign my spine No need for specialists, needles or collagen Heat and humidity make me a kid again
5.
Danger waits in Indiana like sun on the street It won’t break in and steal it comes suddenly A blade swung the wrong way, a slip on the hay Death in the everyday - Accidents, they say The sky doesn’t care and the corn just sways There’s a heat in Indiana that presses on the day The glass sits full of water A tulip poplar prays The cars and times have changed now, the steel frame passed away But in my mind it stays same as same as same I want to go to Indiana where I held my bravery high as cast iron bulls chased us to the ruined silo pile But a silo too can be deadly if you sink into the grain What is it about you that’s sewn into my brain You smile at disaster and set the plow back to the plain, and I like you that way
6.
Shadow stand behind me Do as i do, walk me to school The neighbors grow flowers I can’t name I know my way by the shapes of the lawns Come on baby raise the ring Salt your eyes and feel the sting Time holds a knife to everything Come on baby raise the ring Springtime smells like damp stone The field is muddy, I hold buds in my hand Summer leaves me breathless Full exertion Sweetness offered Grandfather’s funeral The corn was high The leaves were rust The sound of the rifle made me cry
7.
Slow 03:50
On a Friday I sit in the room In my head there’s a tune and I feel defeated By the speed machine and the social scene I keep on waiting for something to happen I am slow and it’s high time I am slowed down to feel the cost of all my movement Next to the stoop There’s a ring of grass where nothing else will grow It’s a precious thing finding life in the dead zone People are always walking across the tracks behind our building There’s always the feeling that so much is happening That’s enough Stop and stare Long enough Into the glare Cut it out Don’t fill it up
8.
W/ Sam 03:02
I had a nice time with Sam We were talking, talking like friends I had a nice time with Sam Talking about how things will be at the end I said aloud, “I wish I was more fun, didn’t steer toward serious” He said, “Man I know that about you, it’s come up on other days” But we stayed put instead of looking away I had a nice time with Sam He really liked the pasta Blueberries, an unexpected touch But he particularly liked the lemon zest, who doesn’t? I had a nice time with Sam We were talking like friends on the weekend I don’t get many weekends
9.
Waite 02:42
Hunter, rust, mauve, dust; colors I didn’t trust until I saw them from the train Home with stranger kin Camp in the kitchen Tears and a sweet refrain Pining, dining, late reclining Pillow steals my brain Stop through, see you all we’ve been through Are we not the same?
10.
Don’t be alarmed You won’t be harmed Don’t you ever wonder if it was all as you remember? Well now you’ll know for sure Oh and don’t forget, everybody has a family Everybody has a hometown; someone who heard their first word Perfume of grass Your red pajamas Memory is nice but what about long nights when you’re too tired to read? Just hit play Re-watch that day after the party died, glitter all swept away We sat in your car Now we can know what we said that night Word-for-word is nice sometimes There’s an eye in the sky Satellite, recording our lives So smile
11.
In Darkness 02:35
Forest of my mind Calm and slow and know comfort of the darkness Knowing you I am more myself but not a self I know; one from somewhere else Hidden bell sleeps in you waiting to be traced, harvested from darkness Our pool has two deep ends Laugh on the surface, dive down again The deeper that we go I yield myself to the hand that knows its way in darkness

about

Thanks to:
Our families for their patient and generous support. Brother Alan Brilliant for clarity, and true patronage. Elly Roller for bringing her creative superpowers to our operation. Our far away friends, both new and old, who have helped us feel at home away from our home, who have given beds, meals, oil changes, meaningful conversation and space for quiet. You are our community as much as anyone. Roulhac Toledano for making the Pink Warehouse the magical space that it is, for her collections, and her great imagination for what a home can be. Our incredible friends and creative community in Charlottesville for helping us feel less isolated. Jeff Crawford, for an example of steadiness and for encouragement toward lasting things (live long and prosper). Jeff Stuart Saltzman, for patience and humble expertise. Forrest and Zaynah Akeel Pando for collaborations in art and life. Kurt, Nienke and Lil K: Thank you for being gracious while we recorded this album directly above you. Neighbies 4 Life. Guion Pratt for generous and thorough input on the songs on Glyphonic and many others we have written. Our band/artistfriends all over the place and at home for keeping on and going deep in the limited times we have together. The TFA Family for sturdy foundations. Mike, Kathleen, Shawn, Michelle and Ronda for helping us grow this thing.

We would also like to thank each and every one of you who has ever purchased any of our recorded music, anyone who has come out to a show, anyone who has ever sent an encouraging word our way or told a friend about our music. Thank you for supporting independent music. You have helped us more than you know. And to you reading this now, if you have ever leaned in to listen to something quiet, if you have ever looked closely at something that wasn’t flashing brightly for your attention, thank you.
